PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Provide technical and leadership expertise for the Operational Technology (OT) Systems and applications that
support the Exelon Utilities Gas Business. These applications include Real Time SCADA and plant control
systems, as well as non-Real Time systems on a variety of operating systems and platforms. Provide OT teams
and business unit personnel with technology solutions by weighing advantages of technology standards, market
availability of products, risks, and benefits of technology to meet business/OT needs. Expected to maintain a
strong knowledge of Exelon cyber security programs to meet compliance requirements. Expected to work under
minimal supervision. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy
delivery emergencies.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform, manage and appropriately document work activities relating to projects, sub-projects, or processes. For projects: plan, design, and build high quality IT software solutions in accordance with IT project management standards. For operations and application maintenance and support: plan and lead IT activities required to manage service level agreements. Assist others in planning and prioritizing work and work schedule. (45%)
  • Assist in creation of documentation for products and services. Use best practices to improve products and services provided to business unit partners, and monitor adherence within Team/Group to standards as defined within the Management Model (15%)
  • Maintain and enhance engagement with business and IT partners and other stakeholders (15%)
  • Establish positive team environment by proactively assisting and training less experienced personnel. Provide performance and development feedback as required (15%)
  • Maintain technical knowledge and business acumen within own discipline or function (10%)


JOB SCOPE

  • Development and maintenance of SCADA system graphics, HMI operator interfaces, databases and
    communications polling engines for the Gas Production process control systems and Gas Distribution process control
    systems.
  • Development and maintenance of SCADA Historian system graphics, databases and report generation for Gas
    Production and Gas Distribution process control systems.
  • Evaluates and repairs complex software programming issues in distribution/production SCADA applications
    utilizing various programming platforms. This includes but is not limited to VBA, VB, Structured text, Ladder Logic,
    Function block and C++.
  • Staying informed of both functionality as well as security vulnerability patches and firmware updates by
    maintaining strong relationships with device manufacturers and Exelon Cyber Vulnerability Management teams to
    develop strategies to mitigate known vulnerabilities related to OT systems and OT devices (PLCs) used within Gas &
    Plant operations.
  • Continuously upgrade business supported applications to Exelon and Industry based standards including
    specific OT Field device applications and Transient Cyber Asset /Laptops (TCA) upgrades, infrastructure upgrades and
    ensure appropriate implementation of technology both within the production and the development environments.
  • Participate in technological innovation to drive new business opportunities and solve complex business
    problems.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 4-7 years' experience in (add area(s) of technical specialty) or in lieu of degree, 6-9 years combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Appropriate technical skills (add specifics here).
  • Strong knowledge of business practices and processes in (add specifics here).
  • Experience leading small IT projects or sub-teams and knowledge of IT project management.
  • Strong problem solving and analysis ability.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work with remote project teams.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical certification in process controls or related field.
  • Knowledge of the Utilities Industry is preferred, especially Gas Utility Operations.
  • Knowledge of process control technology including RTU’s, PLC’s and communication/control protocols is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working with High-Availability SCADA control applications is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security controls and directives impacting Gas OT systems and devices.
