- Performs both major and minor tests such as facility to soil potential, current flow, rectifier current and voltage, ground bed resistance, coating resistance and integrity, location of holidays, location of contacts, degree and cause of corrosion and soil resistivity to determine adequacy of cathodic protection for existing or proposed gas and electric distribution and transmission systems.

- Operates various electrical and electronic instruments.

- Enters test results into corrosion database using laptop computer.

- Explains problems to customers as a result of meter inspections.

- Issues work orders to appropriate units for the maintenance and repair of cathodic protection systems including installing rectifiers, deep well anodes, ground bed anodes, test wires, resistance bonds, test stations, and hot lines. 

- Makes field sketches showing the location of cathodic protection structures for records and right-of-way.

- Compiles field reports, test data, and statistical information for updating records. 

- Investigates and trouble-shoots non-compliance test read locations, which may include marking-off underground gas and electric structures to identify future corrective maintenance work.  

- Subject to overtime, emergency call-in, and outdoor work in all types of weather.





- Knowledge of electricity and related mathematics



- Demonstrated ability to understand maps and maintain records
- Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully with company personnel and customers
- Demonstrated ability to use a personal computer and associated software
- Must possess valid drivers license and ability to meet Company driving standards. 

- Must be willing and able to work overtime on a regular basis and must be available for callout overtime, as required, consistent with the Labor Agreement.

- Job offers are contingent on passing a strenuous physical that will be conducted by Occupational Health Services. 

- Must pass U. S. Dept. of Transportation required chemical test. 
 - Over two years of related work experience in gas distribution operations, maintenance, or construction OR equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
