Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE is an Exelon Company). BGE’s Green Power Connection Team is seeking a Sr Project Manager to manage all customer renewable energy projects interconnecting to the electrical grid.  These projects include solar, wind, energy storage, combined heat and power, fuel cells, virtual power plant, vehicle-to-grid, and other technologies as they arise. 



Position Scope:


Responsible for the managing the scope, schedule, budget and safety performance of all renewable energy projects, including the management of all related electric distribution construction as needed for project execution. BGE’s growing portfolio of renewable energy projects requires that the PM must be able to manage cross-functional teams involving multiple BGE operating units and contracted construction resources to meet customer expectations.  Additionally, the PM is responsible for project cost estimations and will perform financial analysis throughout project lifecycle to ensure fiduciary responsibility to all customer projects.




PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION


- Manage transmission, substation, and distribution projects consisting of cross-functional teams involving multiple engineering disciplines and multiple construction areas including contract resources. 


- Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of multiple construction projects and programs. Leads project teams through business case / capital approval process, development and execution of project plans and project closeout. These projects have budgets that will typically range from $250k to $10 million. 


- Also, may manage non-construction projects with direct accountability to project execution while leading a team to accomplishing objections within a given time frame and with limited resources.


- Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. 



PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES


- Develop and conduct short-term and long-range business planning for solar farm work.  Conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other operational and financial analysis.


- Develop and interpret statistical data to ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, equipment and materials for business operations.


- Develop, track, maintain, analyze and report out metrics regarding all departments that participate in the process of interconnecting solar farms to BGE’s grid.


- Prepare and analyze comprehensive and detailed reporting of expenses related each solar farm and prepare True-Ups at the end of each project to determine the effectiveness of original job estimation; develop process to improve upon job estimation process based on historical data.


- Develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives) as identified and assigned.
- Provide broad analytical and operational support to the overall business unit as needed.  


- Responsible and accountable for overall project performance for projects including major substation, transmission, and distribution construction, new technology programs, information technology and organizational initiatives. 


- Ensures project costs, schedule and scope are managed, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits. 


- Interface with external and internal stakeholders to coordinate project requirements. 


- Primary communicator with the sponsor and key stakeholders on project issues, including executive level and interdepartmental presentations. 


- Ensures a good working relationship between the project team, line managers, and interfacing organizations. 


- Coaches and leads team members to ensure completion of assigned tasks. 


- Identify and obtain project team resources. 


- Ensures project team members understand their respective responsibilities. 

Qualifications

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS


Minimum: 


- Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related discipline and 5 - 8 years project management or related experience OR high school diploma and 9 - 12 years of project management or related experience


- Demonstrated and documented success at managing projects. 


- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and time management skills. 


- Demonstrated strong independent judgment skills. 


- Ability to work independently and as a team leader including the ability to handle conflicting priorities in a multi task environment. 


- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or achieve PMP within two years of job entry.


Preferred: 


- Bachelor's degree in engineering or Master's degree in Engineering or Business


- Professional Engineer License



The Project Manager is an individual contributor accountable for project budgets, team performance and developing strategic plans to implement projects for various organizations. Responsibilities also include managing scope, budget and schedule within approved parameters and providing structured and detailed reports to the appropriate Management team. Tasks include but are not limited to, ensuring the completion of business cases, budgetary approvals, project scheduling, design and engineering tasks, vegetation management reviews, project reporting, project financial analysis, major equipment procurement, environmental analysis, obtaining real estate and relationship management with external customers, vendors, townships and regulatory agencies. Interacts routinely with key internal and external stakeholders including senior management, the Utilitys largest customers, and governmental and regulatory officials. In addition to managing construction projects ranging from $250 K to $10 million each with annual expenditures up to $30 million for all projects managed.
