This posting is for one Exelon Utilities Transmission System Operations (TSO) Mid-Atlantic Control Room Manager.  The permanent location for this job will be either Kennett Square, PA or Windsor Mill, MD and is dependent upon the preference of the successful applicant.   The Main Office Building in Philadelphia, PA will be a temporary location until the Kennett Square, PA location is active which is targeted for April 2022.  You are applying for a job based on the permanent location of either Kennett Square, PA or Windsor Mill, MD.  You may be eligible for temporary mileage reimbursement and relocation benefits during the transition period.  Please discuss your situation with the hiring manager (or recruiter).



Direct the personnel and activities of Operations Control and outage planning. This includes the operation of the Exelon Utility Mid-Atlantic transmission system, transmission outage and work management coordination and planning, congestion minimization and arrangements, and technical analysis. Assure the development and implementation of strategic initiatives. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain a learning environment that promotes safety, ethics, diversity, teamwork high productivity. Note: Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.


- Oversee the development and implementation of short and long term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest level of safety, productivity and customer service and achieve reliability and customer goals.

- Manage the Operations Budget.

- Assure adherence to the budget plan.

- Establish and monitor business plans and objectives.

- Develop and maintain an environment that fosters accountability, high performance and continuous improvement.

- Leads Operations team in promoting diversity.

- Serves as a change agent for business initiatives, and assures the human element is understood.

- Assure timely recognition of employee contributions.

- Provide leadership and development to the Operations team.

- Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations.

- Conduct Individual Performance Review process of the Shift Managers.

- Identifies opportunities for growth, learning and continuous improvement.

- Interface with other departments and represent Transmission Operations to Exelon Nuclear, Exelon Power, Power Team and PJM Interconnection LLC regarding the transmission system, operations, and transmission equipment.

- As a member of the PJM System Operation Subcommittee, participate on working groups and advocate Exelons position to influence the outcome of PJMs operating policy.



- Requires Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business Management or related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in Electric System Operations, engineering or equivalent related experience.

- Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field, NERC & PJM certification is preferred.

- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of NERC, PJM, regulatory and related legal issues

- Proven leadership ability in a high performance culture

- Proven high-level management skills in coaching and facilitating business competency

- Proven performance management skills

- Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change

- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance

- Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value

- Ability to interpret power flow analysis, voltage collapse studies, contingency/security analysis, fault studies, and protective relaying fundamentals.

- Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of transmission operations and equipment.



- Direct the operation of the Transmission System for all zones throughout Exelon Utilities Mid-Atlantic, which includes all transmission lines and substations, outage planning and scheduling.

- Directs the 24-hour/7 day a week operation of the Operation Control Room. 

- Coordinate the implementation of emergency procedures. 

- Manages an operating budget to assure performance within budgetary limits.

- Actions have significant impact on public and employee safety, reliability and customer satisfaction goals, and on the transmission revenue stream.

- Regular contact with senior management, managers, employees of Energy Delivery and of other business units (e. g. , Exelon Nuclear, Exelon Generation, Power Team, BSC Legal, Government and Environmental Affairs), independent power producers, high tension customers, PJM, and other PJM transmission and generation companies representatives.

- As a member of the PJM System Operations Subcommittee, advocate positive outcomes for Exelon relative to PJM operating policy.
