This job is responsible for supervising an operation that provides routing, scheduling, dispatching and clerical support to all relative field organizations.3 This position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

  • Monitors and manages the department’s daily work-load and productivity through the MDS, FFM, CIS/Guidance, ACS, Maximo, GLSS, IGMS, TSO and XSAR systems.
  • Responsible for maintaining the system’s integrity in regards to work-load planning, field personal performance data and communications to other interconnected departments.
  • Oversees unit responsibilities for updating customer account data and meter records. Coordinates and follows-up on work referred to other departments.
  • Represents the IFS organization in reference to dispatch functions on process improvement teams as well as evaluating system changes that could affect the operation.
  • Directs and assists dispatch and operations personnel during gas and/or electric emergencies, as directed by the Emergency Playbook and the Gas Emergency Manual, gas events and outages, electric storms and outages, police and fire department requests, theft of energy, collections, service orders and special job requests.
  • Investigates and resolves internal and external customer inquiries and complaints relative to the dispatch operation as well as provides information to related work groups for same.
  • Develops and maintains work measurement statistics for the dispatch operation.

Supervises staff in a department. Works within prescribed operating procedures. Typically reports to Manager. Direct reports normally include entry-level exempt, non-exempt skilled and non-skilled craft and clerical.


Job Specifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (forestry, business administration, engineering, construction management, etc.) and/or the equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
  • Over five (5) years work related experience or the equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of the Field Force Management System (FFM). Mobile Dispatch System (MDS)/Skyview, ACS, CIS/Guidance, Interface Manager, Atlas/GNI, Filenet/Panagon, Gas Outage Management System (GOMS), Maximo, Gas Service System (GSS), Gas Leak Survey System (GLSS), Inside Gas Meter System (IGMS), WMS, and Flowable Fill Ancillary System (FFAS).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of BGE gas and electric territories, distribution, and grid systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gas and electric distribution standards, company work practices, safe work practices, and gas and electric system operations.
  • Working knowledge of COMAR regulations and BGE tariffs.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle customer complaints.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to pro-actively identify and recommend process/system improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Successful completion of First Level Supervisory Selection System or equivalent.
  • Must pass U. S. Department of Transportation required chemical test.
  • Availability to work extended hours, including 24x7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
