PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
BGE is committed a clean, affordable, and equitable energy future. We have committed to our Path to Clean, which means reducing our operational greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint to net zero by 2050, and actively helping our customers and communities with solutions to manage their own impacts.
This role will act as a subject matter expert concerning business operations and strategy development for BGE’s Path to Clean. The role will perform high-level analysis and prepare comprehensive reports to support and shape the next steps of BGE’s Path to Clean strategy in support of Maryland’s new Legislative directive to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. You will develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives) that will include, but not be limited to, exploring emerging climate technologies, developing new demonstration opportunities, exploring regulatory models, performing Research and providing statistical financial and operational information. This role will develop, organize and present performance reports for both internal and external use by working closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (for example, across Strategy, Innovation, Environmental, Government & External Affairs, Regulatory, Corporate Strategy and Gas Operations).
The successful Candidate will be expected to operate with significant autonomy, lead strategy discussions and gather inputs from a variety sources (e.g. SMEs, data, stakeholder consensus, research, etc.) in order to develop and drive short-term and long-range business planning, as well as. make recommendations for improvement and implement change. This will require strong communication and problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, expert analytical and operational support, conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other general financial and operational analysis.
Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery
emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop and drive short-term and long-range business planning specific to BGE’s sustainability plans and our Path to Clean commitments. Conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other financial and operational analysis (e.g., operational effectiveness, budget, resource, workload, workforce and capacity utilization, competitor, etc.).
Lead cross-functional teams in strategy and planning discussions to develop new ideas, align on common objectives and develop execution plans. Provide statistical information to ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, equipment and/or materials for business operations.
Monitor and coordinate activities to develop sustainability strategies while maintaining operational performance (e.g., safety, reliability, productivity, etc.) and make recommendations for improvement and implement change. May include shaping and leading demonstration projects and/or working with marketing and communications functions.
Develop, organize and present detailed status updates, synthesis of learnings and performance reports for both internal and external use; these typically take the form of verbal and presentation updates.
Track, maintain, analyze and provide current information on the operation’s business scorecard or key performance indicators (KPIs) related to Path to Clean, environmental and in support of Maryland’s Climate policy.
Perform complex analysis of the operation’s cost elements to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Prepare and analyze comprehensive and detailed reports.
Develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives).
Provide expert analytical and operational support to the business unit.
